Chorus/Musical Theater

Chorus 1- Any student that is in 6th grade goes into this chorus with experience or no experience. All are welcome and all 6th graders will be in one class. We will teach you how to read music and we will have 3 mandatory concerts with all other activities being optional. You can be as involved as you want to be or have time to be in the extra out of school opportunities that will be offered.
Chorus 2- Any student that has taken or not taken chorus before and is in the 7th grade goes into this class. We will teach you how to read music and we will have 3 mandatory concerts with all other activities being optional. You can be as involved as you want to be in the extra out of school opportunities that will be offered.
Chorus 3- Any 8th grader that has taken or not taken chorus before goes into this class.We will teach you how to read music and we will have 3 mandatory concerts with all other activities being optional. You can be as involved as you want to be in the extra out of school opportunities that will be offered.
Drama- This class if for any student in 7-8th grade that would like to learn more about theater, improving their confidence and creativity, practice life skills and learn how to work better with others. It is a very hands on class and has been extremely helpful in assisting students with lowering their anxiety when needing to be in front of a class or group etc. No experience is needed.
Music theater Middle School Level- There is no experience needed for this class. You just sign up. You can participate in all or some of performances. This is the introduction class to becoming a star on stage. We work on Singing, Acting and dancing and put on performances throughout the year.
Music Theater High School Level- This class is the only class you need to audition to get in to. It is open for any 7-8th grader who would like to take a class combination of Chorus and Drama. We will put on performances and showcase our skills in acting, singing, and dancing. The auditions will be announced in March and you will need to sing a short part of a song for me ( 1 verse, 1 chorus) and send it to me in a video format. You will also do a 1 minute monologue for me and send that in video format. I can take up to 24 students in this class. We perform the most and you recieve 1 credit hour for each year you are accepted into the class. No experience is needed, you just need to be willing to learn more about performing and we will take care of the rest!
Supplies needed for chorus and music theater are: Your chromebook and earbuds/headphones since you will need to hear recordings some days. It is great to have a notebook or planner digital or paper to organize your assignments in all classes.

Best way to reach me: Students during or before your class time by email or in person. Parents by email and know I will get back to you within 24 hours unless on the weekend.
Class activities: lots of singing, acting, a musical style performance, concerts, fieldtrips, competitions. There are no required solos. It is all voluntary and up to you to sing alone.
Optional extra activities:
Allstate ( top state musician competition for 7/8th graders)
Treble Honor Choir ( select upper voices to perform in a select District Choir in November
Men's Honor Day ( select lower voices to perform in a District Choir in January)
Opera workshop from FSU
No prior knowledge or experience is needed for any of the above classes. We just want you to join us!!
