The purpose of The National Beta Club shall be to promote the ideals of character, service and leadership among elementary and secondary school students, to reward meritorious academic achievement and to encourage and assist students in continuing their education after high school.

STANDARDS OF MEMBERSHIP

 

HOW TO BECOME A MEMBER:

All students must be performing at or above grade level in order to be eligible for membership. The academic requirements for membership in the National Junior Beta club are earning all A’s the first semester of the school year.  Once inducted a student must maintain a semester GPA of a 4.0 in all courses.  

The service requirements for membership in the National Junior Beta club are at least 10 service hours per year. The character and behavioral requirements for membership in the National Junior Beta club is to maintain all 3s and 4s in Citizenship.

 

LOSS OF MEMBERSHIP:   

 

A member of the National Junior Beta club may be put on probation or dropped from membership for the following reasons.

  • If he/she is absent without a justifiable reason from 2 or more regular meetings.
  • If his/her academic record does not meet academic standards of membership.
  • If he/she fails to attain at least 10 service hours without a justifiable reason.
  • If his/her character and behavior record falls below a 3 or a 4 in Citizenship

If and when a member is put on probation, they have the opportunity to be added back on the active school roster after the next grading period. During probation, you should not attend meetings or participate in any Beta activities. You may continue to earn service hours in the event that you are reinstated after the third nine weeks.

 

National Beta is the largest independent, non-profit, educational youth organization in America and prepares today’s students to be tomorrow’s leaders. The organization recognizes high academic achievement, promotes character and social responsibility, encourages service involvement to school and community, fosters leadership skills, and provides settings for your child to develop interpersonal relationship skills.

 

Your student should have given you (2/13/26) an invitation that tells you more about the benefits of membership in National Beta, the membership agreement, and the Beta student information form. National Beta is for qualifying students in grades 4-12.

  • Junior (grades 6-8) - $24

Our school has opted to add an additional $16 to assist in funding our club activities and covering cost of a t-shirt. All members will receive a certificate, membership card, lapel pin, and MMS Beta Club t-shirt. Your child’s membership fee of $40 and signed membership agreement will be due by Friday, February 27, 2026. Fee must be paid through e-Funds for school online (directions are attached to the packet).  We cannot accept any forms after 2/27/26.  

We will be inducting our new members on 3/31/26 at 6:00 p.m. in the cafeteria.  A mandatory rehearsal will be held on 3/30 at 8:15 am in the cafeteria.  Dress code for all Beta inductees (3/31) and members will be business casual.  Parents are welcome to attend.

Club meetings will be held monthly on the first Wednesday of each month at 8:45 a.m. in the MMS media center.  Each student must attend a minimum of 8 meetings per year to remain an active member.
